Samsung Fixes 8-Month DeX Controller Bug in One UI 8.5

One UI 8.5 restores analog-stick input in DeX Mode when a Galaxy phone’s screen turns off, resolving a bug that broke wireless controller gaming on big screens.
The issue affected Xbox One and other wireless controllers: face buttons still worked, but stick input died after the handset went to sleep, while keyboard and mouse input remained normal.
Reddit reports show Galaxy owners had been hitting the problem for about eight months, relying on workarounds such as Developer Options’ Stay awake setting or screen-on apps like BleKip.
Samsung’s fix arrives alongside the May 2026 security patch and follows last year’s rebuilt DeX in One UI 8, which also dropped features that One UI 8.5 now revives, including auto-hide taskbar and audio output toggles.
The update should improve couch gaming on recent Galaxy phones now receiving One UI 8.5, though older models stuck on One UI 8 may wait longer for the fix.
