Gangdong district in Seoul is now home to Galaxy Robot Park, a 16,500-square-metre venue Galaxy Corporation says is the world’s first robot theme park.
Four child-sized humanoid robots headlined the opening with K-pop dance routines to songs by G-Dragon and Taemin, though one malfunctioned mid-performance and was removed.
Galaxy plans three to six robot K-pop concerts a day—more than 1,000 shows a year—and says it wants to send the performers on a world tour by year-end.
The park also features robot valets, robotic dogs, portrait-drawing machines and a boxing attraction where visitors control humanoid fighters through a mirroring system.
Galaxy is pitching robots as scalable entertainers for places human stars cannot easily reach, but analysts say the model will hinge on whether fans feel any emotional connection.
