Akasa Air Adds Capacity as India's Major Carriers Cut Flights by Up to 17.1%

Akasa Air was the only major Indian carrier to add meaningful local capacity in recent months, gaining ground while the Iran war disrupted rivals’ operations.
Cirium data showed flights by India’s four biggest airlines fell nearly 6% in March and April from a year earlier, underscoring the breadth of the pullback.
IndiGo operated 4.5% fewer flights, Air India’s full-service arm cut 7.5%, and Air India Express reduced services by 17.1%.
That divergence strengthens Akasa’s challenge to the IndiGo-Air India duopoly at a time when geopolitical disruption is reshaping capacity across India’s aviation market.
