Marmaton Valley Wildcats Open First State Tournament Against 23-4 Rossville

Marmaton Valley, 20-5 and the No. 5 seed, will face No. 4 Rossville in the KSHSAA 2-1A state quarterfinals at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Blue Valley West.
The Wildcats reached state for the first time in school history after winning the 2-1A regional tournament and will be the away team in Monday’s neutral-site game.
A win would send Marmaton Valley to an 11 a.m. Wednesday semifinal at KU’s Hoglund Stadium against either No. 8 Humboldt or No. 1 Thomas More Prep, which is 27-1.
Humboldt, making its second straight state appearance, opens at 5:45 p.m. Monday in Salina, with either Allen County team still able to reach Friday’s 6:40 p.m. title game.
