Tennessee’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stayed at 3.6% in April, unchanged for a third straight month and up slightly from 3.5% a year earlier.
1,200 nonfarm jobs were added between March and April, led by construction, durable goods manufacturing, and accommodation and food services.
The state remained below the U.S. unemployment rate of 4.3% in April, which was unchanged from March and above 4.2% a year earlier.
Over the past 12 months, Tennessee nonfarm employment rose by 900 jobs, with the biggest gains in health care and social assistance, state government, and administrative support and waste services.
