Google and Samsung teamed with South Korea’s Gentle Monster to launch AI smart glasses this fall, adding a fashion-led challenger to Meta’s early lead in the category.
Two cameras are built into the frames, while Google’s Gemini assistant lets wearers send messages, translate text and navigate without pulling out a phone.
Gentle Monster designed the first model as an all-black cat-eye frame, giving the device a more style-focused look than earlier smart-glasses offerings.
Meta built its market position through Ray-Ban in 2019 and later Oakley, and Apple is also rumored to release its own glasses later this year, crowding the AI eyewear race.
