Stoke-on-Trent residents found a distressed pony completely wedged inside a tractor tyre in a field, prompting an RSPCA rescue.
RSPCA officer Nicola Riley called it a delicate operation, with rescuers lifting the tyre and freeing the pony in stages—front feet, shoulder, then neck and front end.
The pony emerged uninjured but initially wobbly, resting partly inside the tyre before standing and eventually walking free as Riley monitored him for about an hour.
The tyre was removed to prevent another accident, and the pony soon returned to grazing in the field.
