  • A portion of Sitka lost phone and internet service Friday, with Alaska Communications saying it was dealing with intermittent internet disruptions and working to restore service quickly.
  • The outage knocked out some residents' and businesses' connections and also affected non-emergency lines at the Sitka Police Department and Fire Hall, according to a city press release.
  • 911 service remained operational and officials said it should still be used for emergencies while city staff worked on the problem.
  • GCI, the other major provider in Sitka, said it had received no outage reports from its customers, pointing to ACS as the source of the disruption.
