iOS 27 will let Apple devices automatically generate captions for personal videos, shared clips and some streamed content using a new on-device speech recognition model.
The feature is slated for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Vision Pro, with users able to customize caption appearance in playback settings.
English support will launch first in the US and Canada, with Apple planning a wider regional rollout and additional languages later.
The update is part of Apple’s broader Apple Intelligence push as it tries to narrow the gap with Samsung’s Galaxy AI and Google’s Gemini.
