Raleigh police charged 57-year-old Gwendolyn White with attempted murder after investigators said she shot attorneys Mary Harris and Jeffrey Whitley outside the Wake County Courthouse on Friday.
Police said White had been inside the courthouse for a civil case, then went to her car, retrieved a handgun and opened fire on the two lawyers in an alley shortly after the hearing.
Mary Harris and Jeffrey Whitley were taken to a hospital, and officials have not released their conditions; White is also hospitalized for unclear reasons after officers and deputies quickly detained her.
The alley reopened after an hours-long investigation, but both Wake County courthouses closed for the rest of the day as authorities continued examining what led to the shooting.
