Nebraska Jobless Rate Dips to 3.0% as Nonfarm Payrolls Rise 10,330 in April

Nebraska’s preliminary unemployment rate edged down to 3.0% in April from 3.1% in March, while the labor force stood at 1,102,667.
Nonfarm employment climbed to 1,057,727, up 10,330 from March, with every metro area and rural Nebraska posting month-over-month job gains.
Leisure and hospitality led April hiring with 3,540 added jobs, followed by mining and construction at 2,049 and trade, transportation and utilities at 1,326.
Year over year, total nonfarm employment was still down 4,072, even as private education and health services added 3,756 jobs and mining and construction gained 2,576.
Nebraska’s 3.0% rate remained well below the national unemployment rate of 4.3%, which was unchanged in April and up 0.1 point from a year earlier.
