Six students in Peterborough were selected to run summer businesses through Community Futures Peterborough’s Summer Company program, receiving training, mentorship and startup grants of up to $3,000.
The six winners were chosen from 40 applicants—double 2025’s total—and will launch ventures spanning detailing, landscaping, 3D printing, cottage care, swim lessons and beach volleyball.
Ontario funds the program through the Small Business Enterprise Centre network, targeting entrepreneurs aged 15 to 29 with support in business planning, marketing and financial management.
Community Futures Peterborough and local officials said the record applicant pool signals rising youth interest in entrepreneurship and stronger local demand for startup support.
