An Affinity Federal Credit Union report found the overall cost of a Jersey shore vacation is up 11.3% from a year ago, reversing last summer’s 5% decline.
Weeklong rentals drove the increase, surging 53%, while gas rose 52% and parking 50%, adding to what the report called broad summer "vacation inflation."
Food costs climbed 7%, with pizza up 29%; beach tags increased 7% and mini golf 5%, extending the squeeze beyond lodging and travel.
Families may respond by shortening trips or switching to day visits, while Affinity suggested cheaper rentals farther inland, bringing beach gear from home and buying groceries before arriving.
