Prince William Opens Scilly Hospital, Says Catherine Is Easing Back After 2024 Cancer Diagnosis

On the Isles of Scilly, Prince William said Catherine left her recent Italy trip “buzzing” and is gradually resuming overseas duties after cancer treatment, adding that his family “couldn’t cope without her.”
William said the princess was proud to complete her first official international trip since her 2024 diagnosis, but stressed royal travel is demanding and the family must ensure she is rested.
At the same visit, William opened a new hospital facility, saying expanded local services — including maternity care — should reduce costly trips from the islands to the mainland.
He also inspected 10 sustainable homes backed by the Duchy of Cornwall, aimed at easing housing pressure and helping local workers stay on the islands.
The housing visit followed this week’s announcement that the Duchy will sell 20% of its assets to fund housing and nature projects over the next decade.
