Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stayed at 3.6% in April, with 36,517 people unemployed as the labor force slipped to 1,003,496.
The flat rate came as both labor force and employment edged down 0.2% from March—by 2,350 and 2,290 people, respectively—while participation fell to 62.2%.
Nonfarm payrolls still added 3,600 jobs in April, led by arts, entertainment and recreation, durable goods manufacturing, and information; transportation, federal government and administrative services lost jobs.
Five of Idaho’s six metro areas posted monthly job gains, with Coeur d’Alene up 0.5%, while Twin Falls was unchanged.
Compared with a year earlier, Idaho’s jobless rate was also 3.6%, below the national 4.3%, while total nonfarm jobs were up 4,700.
