Examples included “Got it! Let me know if you need help with anything else” and “Message received! I’m here and ready to help,” leaving the overview area without substantive results.
The glitch was reproduced by multiple Verge staffers, with the response for “disregard” changing on repeat searches, suggesting an unstable bug rather than a deliberate feature.
Google did not immediately comment on the issue, which appears limited to certain prompt-like terms that the system may be interpreting as direct instructions.
