Arkansas Adds 5,800 Jobs in April as Unemployment Holds at 4.3%

Arkansas nonfarm payrolls rose by 5,800 in April to 1,347,400, while the state unemployment rate held at 4.3% for a second straight month.
Employment increased by 359 and stayed at a record high for the fourth consecutive month, even as the civilian labor force shrank by 853 and the number of unemployed fell by 1,212.
Leisure and hospitality led monthly hiring with 2,400 jobs added, followed by professional and business services with 1,800; nine of 11 major sectors posted gains.
Compared with April 2025, Arkansas has 19,615 more employed residents and 3,500 more payroll jobs, though government shed 1,900 jobs and construction lost 1,400 over the year.
