Google Launches Wallet Redesign and Cross-Device Pay Verification for Desktop Checkouts

Google said its redesigned Google Wallet for Android is now fully available, adding a new homepage with dynamic favorites, full-screen passes and a searchable hub for cards, tickets and transaction details.
Desktop shoppers using Google Pay can now verify purchases on a trusted Android phone via push notification or QR code, then approve with biometrics or a PIN instead of one-time passwords and redirects.
Google said the new payment flow is meant to satisfy multi-factor authentication rules, including Strong Customer Authentication requirements in the EU and UK, while reducing checkout friction.
Developers also get new Wallet tools, including an API for storing digital receipts, contactless loyalty enrollment after tap-to-pay, and digital ID verification features already used by Uber and Intuit.
