iOS 26.5 expanded three core iPhone apps with end-to-end encrypted RCS in Messages, Suggested Places in Apple Maps, and a new in-app subscription format.
Messages now supports encrypted RCS in beta, though Apple said the feature works only on supported devices and carriers and only chats labeled encrypted are protected end to end.
Apple Maps now shows 2 Suggested Places whenever users tap the search field, drawing on nearby trends, prior searches and other signals; Apple said one slot could eventually carry promoted listings.
