Weather Center Forecasts Several Inches of Memorial Day Rain as Cool Air Covers Much of U.S.

Several inches of rain could fall by Memorial Day’s end across southern and eastern Texas into Louisiana, where the Weather Prediction Center sees the highest flash-flood threat.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms are also expected to disrupt holiday travel near major airports in Houston, San Antonio, Lafayette and Baton Rouge, with Oklahoma and Arkansas also facing elevated flooding risk.
More than 1 inch of rain is possible in parts of the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, while a separate system spreads rain into the northern and central Plains and Upper Midwest starting Saturday.
