Tuchel Drops 66-Cap Harry Maguire From England World Cup Squad

Harry Maguire said he was "shocked and gutted" after learning he will not be in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Tuchel is due to confirm the roster on Friday, with Maguire’s omission coming despite the 33-year-old’s return to the national team in March after being out since September 2024.
Maguire has 66 England appearances and seven goals, and was a key part of runs to the 2018 World Cup semifinals, the Euro 2020 final and the 2022 World Cup quarterfinals.
His place has eroded in recent years as Marc Guehi and Ezri Konsa moved ahead of him, while injury had already kept him out of Euro 2024.
