100 Morrisons Daily convenience stores will close over the next few months, with staff facing redundancy as the supermarket starts a consultation.
Morrisons said the outlets—acquired in its 2022 McColls deal—had been loss-making for years, and that higher costs from government policy choices made a return to profitability harder.
The move follows last year's closure plan for 52 cafes and 17 convenience stores, and comes a month after Morrisons said about 200 Bradford headquarters jobs were at risk.
Around 1,700 Morrisons Daily stores remain, and the group said it still has a 2026 expansion plan with scope to open hundreds more franchise sites.
Retailers across Britain have complained about rising costs from higher employer National Insurance, minimum wages and packaging rules, while food inflation hit 3% in April.
