Giants Hire John Ritcher as College Scouting Director, Filling Vacancy Left Open Since 2022

John Ritcher is the Giants’ only post-draft front-office addition so far, taking over as director of college scouting after the role sat vacant since Chris Pettit’s firing following the 2022 draft.
The hire gives the Giants an outside voice rather than an internal promotion and should ease the workload on assistant director of player personnel Dennis Hickey, who had been handling the job on a de facto basis.
Ritcher is also notable because he previously worked with general manager Joe Schoen, making him one of just two additions—along with Dawn Aponte—who came through Schoen’s network rather than coach John Harbaugh’s.
That limited turnover has been one of the early surprises of Harbaugh’s tenure, even as the coach has consolidated control over personnel decisions and reshaped reporting lines inside the front office.
