Android XR Adds 3 Headset Features to Samsung Galaxy XR, Including 1080p Auto-Spatialization

  • Samsung Galaxy XR began receiving Android XR’s first major update in April, adding auto-spatialization for 2D windows, hand occlusion in the home space and wall-pinned app windows.
  • 1080p 30FPS auto-spatialization uses an on-device machine-learning model to turn focused 2D content into stereoscopic 3D, though Google says it draws more power and may switch off under heavy load or heat.
  • Hand occlusion now places users’ hands in front of virtual content instead of showing outlines, but the camera-based segmentation can fall back in low light.
  • Window pinning lets apps snap to physical walls, while session restore reopens up to 3 apps after reboot; pinned windows themselves still do not persist across restarts.
  • Android XR also gained Android Enterprise support with zero-touch enrollment and managed app distribution, and the same features are expected on Xreal’s Project Aura later in 2026.
