Four college students were charged with facilitating a riot and second-degree conspiracy after police said they organized Tuesday’s unauthorized Rehoboth Beach and boardwalk takeover.
Online promotion drew crowds that police said were fueled by underage drinking and illegal drug use, forcing an expanded officer response and prompting several arrests.
Three suspects — Xander Nicholl, Angelin Clauvil and Keyon Scott — turned themselves in, were arraigned and released on their own recognizance; Eric Barnett remained at large, though police said no active search was underway.
Rehoboth Beach police said the same group had promoted earlier events and that the resort town has recorded four similar unlawful gatherings since April.
City officials said there is no known danger to the public and stressed Rehoboth Beach remains safe and open ahead of Memorial Day weekend.
