Jared McCain said online abuse over his painted nails and TikTok dances has not changed his behavior, saying he remains comfortable "in my own skin."
More than 5 million TikTok followers and 2 million Instagram followers have amplified the attention, with McCain saying comments on his posts are often filled with homophobic slurs and hateful remarks.
The 22-year-old Thunder guard said he began painting his nails during COVID and credited his parents and family for giving him the confidence to keep doing it.
McCain's comments came after Oklahoma City's Game 2 win over San Antonio, where he scored 12 points with 6 rebounds and 3 assists off the bench in 26 minutes.
Since arriving from Philadelphia in a midseason trade, McCain has averaged more than 10 points in 30 regular-season games for the Thunder, who will look for another spark in Game 3.
