Virginia Authorities Seize 11-Year-Old Dog Lucy After Dangerous-Dog Dispute

Lucy, an 11-year-old dog owned by Army veteran Brendan Jones, was removed from the family’s Strasburg, Virginia, property and is now being held at a local animal shelter.
Authorities acted after Lucy—already labeled a “dangerous” dog over a bite incident a year ago—slipped out of her collar three weeks ago and barked at a neighbor, the family said.
The Jones family says Lucy never left their property or touched anyone, and argues the case grew out of a long-running feud that has brought more than a dozen police calls and court complaints.
Brendan Jones said he rescued Lucy near Islamic State-held territory in 2015 and brought her to the U.S., while the family has launched a #SaveLucy campaign as they await a decision on her fate.
