Ubisoft Singapore has cut Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced's original modern-day office storyline and replaced it with hidden Caribbean rifts that deliver Edward Kenway "What If?" scenarios.
Creative director Paul Fu said the shift reflects Desmond's concluded arc and the Animus Hub's newer direction, while keeping players focused on Edward instead of repeatedly pulling them out of the historical adventure.
The remake still nods to the old Abstergo-era material through rewritten scenes, and Ubisoft added at least one new sequence tied to Bartholomew Roberts to give returning fans an emotional beat.
Game director Richard Knight said Ubisoft sees the remake as the franchise's next flagship entry, making the modern-day overhaul part of a broader effort to align Black Flag Resynced with 2025's Assassin's Creed Shadows ahead of its July 9 release.
