SEC's Hester Peirce Leaves After 8 Years to Join Regent Law as Associate Professor

November will mark Hester Peirce’s exit from the SEC, where she has served as a commissioner since 2018, to join Regent University School of Law as an associate professor.
Regent University announced the move, shifting one of the agency’s most prominent voices on digital assets from regulation into academia.
Peirce led the SEC’s crypto task force last year and became known as “Crypto Mom” for dissenting from Biden-era enforcement actions against digital-asset companies.
Her departure removes a high-profile crypto advocate from the commission as digital-asset oversight remains a central SEC issue.
