Kyle Busch, 41, will miss both of his Charlotte Motor Speedway races this weekend after a severe illness led to hospitalization, his family said.
Austin Hill will substitute for Busch in Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600, taking over Richard Childress Racing’s No. 8 Chevrolet.
Richard Childress Racing said Busch’s health is its priority and that the team is providing full support while asking fans to respect the family’s privacy.
Busch sits 24th in the Cup Series standings with two top-10 finishes in 12 races this season, extending a difficult stretch since his last win in 2023.
