The NBA’s Last Two Minute Report said Cleveland was hurt by two incorrect late calls in its Game 1 playoff loss to New York after blowing a 22-point fourth-quarter lead.
The most damaging error came on Landry Shamet’s game-tying 3-pointer: OG Anunoby was ruled to have set an illegal moving screen on Sam Merrill, a whistle that should have given Cleveland possession.
The report also said Donovan Mitchell’s late miss went off OG Anunoby, not Jarrett Allen as called, though Cleveland had earlier benefited when Evan Mobley was not whistled for an offensive foul on Shamet.
The findings sharpen scrutiny on officiating, but they do not erase Cleveland’s late collapse ahead of Game 2 on Thursday night.
