Build 26300.8493 confirms Microsoft has begun making Windows 11 Search rank local files and apps ahead of web suggestions when they are the stronger match.
The change targets a long-running problem in which Bing and other Microsoft web results often displaced local content; preview testing also showed better typo handling for file searches.
Microsoft said more Search improvements are coming, with work aimed at more accurate results, a faster interface and clearer labeling of local versus web-generated matches.
The update fits Microsoft’s March 20 pledge to improve Windows 11 quality, including a more consistent search experience across the taskbar, Start, File Explorer and Settings.
