Six people were arrested after a viral "teen takeover" flooded Long Branch's Pier Village on Tuesday night, prompting the city to order an emergency 8 p.m. curfew and clear streets by 9:15 p.m.
Nearly 140 officers responded as teenagers allegedly fought, jumped on cars and caused disorder along the boardwalk; five suspects were charged with disorderly conduct and a sixth was accused of eluding police.
Police said more arrests could follow because the gathering was linked to two aggravated assaults—on Centennial Drive and at the train station—and investigators are also probing a suspected vehicle theft.
Officials said the crowd was fueled by social media posts advertising a "senior skip day," underscoring a pattern of pop-up gatherings that have disrupted Jersey Shore towns ahead of Memorial Day weekend.
