About 20 minutes after Natalia Sidorska's car plunged more than 100m down Horseshoe Pass in June 2025, emergency crews reached her after her iPhone automatically sent a crash alert with her location.
The 32-year-old said she lost control on a tight bend on the unfamiliar north Wales road, possibly while driving too fast, then escaped seconds before the wrecked car burst into flames.
Four months in hospital and three operations followed, with serious ankle and spine injuries leaving her with a lifelong disability after surgeons removed her talus bone because infection ruled out metal implants.
Now living in Liverpool with her 10-year-old son, Sidorska has been offered a council home, hopes to retrain as a Polish interpreter and has returned to driving in an adapted mobility car.
Could the same iPhone data that saved her life be used to assign her legal blame for the crash?
