Apple Adds AI Voice Control to iPhone and iPad in 4 English Markets

Natural-language Voice Control will let iPhone and iPad users describe on-screen items instead of recalling exact labels, with commands such as tapping a restaurant guide in Maps or a purple folder in Files.
Apple said the Apple Intelligence upgrade will launch first in English in the U.S., Canada, the UK and Australia as part of accessibility features previewed ahead of major software releases.
The feature points to the more personalized Siri Apple unveiled at WWDC 2024, centered on on-screen awareness, personal context and deeper app controls.
Apple delayed that Siri overhaul in March 2025 until later this year; it is now expected as a key part of iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27, due to be unveiled June 8.
