Prime Video’s The Boys reached its series finale Wednesday, and creator Eric Kripke joined cast members at a Los Angeles event a night earlier to mark the end of the 5-season run.
Kripke said he had some main character arcs mapped from the pilot and expects a split fan response after online backlash this season, saying his job is to provoke emotion rather than universal approval.
Chace Crawford, Erin Moriarty and Jensen Ackles all said they were satisfied with the ending, even as Ackles joked he wanted seasons 6, 7 and 8 before praising how Kripke "landed the plane."
The franchise is not ending entirely: Ackles is set to lead prequel Vought Rising next year, The Boys: Mexico remains in development, and Kripke said he wants to keep Gen V characters alive in some form after that spinoff’s 2-season cancellation.
