Pedro Pascal said his earliest movie memories were tied to "Star Wars," recalling a pre-"Empire Strikes Back" re-release and childhood memories of Obi-Wan's death and "Return of the Jedi."
That personal history made joining "The Mandalorian" a "big no-brainer," he said, as the Disney+ characters move to theaters in "The Mandalorian and Grogu."
The film sends Din Djarin and Grogu on a mission to rescue Jabba the Hutt's son, a job Pascal said is meant to give both longtime fans and newcomers the same sense of wonder he felt as a child.
Pascal also praised director Jon Favreau's collaborative approach, saying Favreau shares the full creative vision so actors know exactly what to bring to the role.
"The Mandalorian and Grogu" opens in theaters on May 22, over Memorial Day weekend.
