Portland placed seventh in WalletHub’s 2026 ranking of the best U.S. cities for summer jobs, making it one of New England’s highest-ranked cities in the survey.
WalletHub gave Portland a score of 55.11 out of 100 based on 21 metrics grouped into youth job market and social environment and affordability.
The city ranked 16th in the youth job market category, reflecting strong seasonal hiring tied to Portland’s tourism-driven economy.
Lewiston also made the list at No. 30, while South Burlington, Vermont, took the top spot overall and Baton Rouge ranked last.
