Jeff Probst said “Survivor” will fold its reunion into a single 3-hour finale, replacing the usual 2.5-hour finale plus 30-minute postshow.
Probst said live reunions have become less useful because players arrive after months of social-media backlash and spend more time defending themselves than speaking candidly.
Season 50’s May 20 finale will still be live before an audience for the first time since 2019, with fan voting also determining a $100,000 Sia prize for a favorite player.
Probst cast the format shift as part of a broader “new era,” saying themes, old twists and even returning players could come back, though CBS only has Seasons 51 and 52 mapped out.
