Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei used the second anniversary of Ebrahim Raeisi's 2024 helicopter-crash death to praise the former president's justice focus, active diplomacy and closeness to ordinary Iranians.
The message cast Raeisi and other slain officials as part of a longer line of "servant-martyrs," linking the 2024 crash and Ali Larijani's March 17, 2026 killing to what Khamenei called US-Israeli terrorism.
Khamenei said Iran now faces a historic confrontation with the United States and Israel, describing the country as engaged in unique national resistance against "two global terrorist armies."
He said that pressure raises the burden on officials to address economic problems, appear directly among the public and give Iranians a larger role in the country's progress.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions after late-February strikes blamed on the United States and Israel and continued threats of renewed attacks.
