Mike Huckabee called the Gaza-bound flotilla a “stupid stunt” but said Itamar Ben-Gvir “betrayed dignity of his nation” by posting a video mocking detained activists.
On X, the US ambassador said “every high-ranking Israeli official” had shown “universal outrage & condemnation” over Ben-Gvir’s actions, naming Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the foreign ministry and Israel’s president.
The rebuke stands out because Huckabee is one of Israel’s most ardent US defenders, a Christian-Zionist who has backed the Gaza war and advocated full Israeli annexation of the occupied West Bank.
