A viral X video shows a Tesla Uber driver asleep for about 20 minutes while the car’s Full Self-Driving system handled roughly 90% of a highway trip, including taking the exit and reaching the passenger’s destination.
The passenger said he was not worried because he had used FSD before, and the clip showed the car traveling at a legal speed with navigation active and no visible incident during the ride.
More than 1,000 comments split between praising the episode as evidence of FSD’s capability and condemning the driver for failing to supervise a system Tesla says requires constant readiness to take over.
Whole Mars Catalog, a Tesla-focused X account that often backs FSD, urged riders to wake a sleeping driver, saying the system can detect drowsiness and pull over but is not foolproof, especially if sunglasses interfere.
If FSD can drive flawlessly with a sleeping driver, who is liable in an accident: the human, Uber, or Tesla?
Tesla's FSD drove perfectly for 20 minutes alone. Is the technology becoming too good for humans to supervise it safely?
