Matt Riccardi is leaving Dallas days after the Mavericks fired coach Jason Kidd, extending a sweeping overhaul that began with Masai Ujiri’s arrival as president and Mike Schmitz’s hiring as general manager.
Riccardi had climbed from senior director of pro personnel in 2022 to assistant GM in 2023, then served as co-interim GM with Michael Finley after Nico Harrison was fired last November.
Jake Fischer reported Riccardi was the runner-up to Ujiri in Dallas’ search for a permanent basketball-operations chief, underscoring how sharply the new regime is reshaping the organization.
Marc Stein said the changes span coaches and scouts, with no indication yet whether Finley will stay; Ujiri is also expected to move quickly on a Kidd replacement.
Stein added Ujiri’s new deal pays comfortably into eight figures annually, while Dallas is expected to draw offseason trade interest in Kyrie Irving even if its willingness to engage remains unclear.
