Masai Ujiri said the decision to remove Jason Kidd was his alone, calling it a "very, very tough" move made to reset the Mavericks after two straight playoff misses.

Kidd coached the Mavericks for five seasons, went 205-205 in the regular season and led Dallas to the 2024 NBA Finals after a 2022 run to the Western Conference finals.
