Wake Forest Names Peter Rodriguez 15th President, Effective July 1

Peter Rodriguez, dean of Rice University’s business school since 2016, will become Wake Forest University’s 15th president on July 1.
Wake Forest said its presidential search committee selected Rodriguez unanimously, citing his higher-education leadership and expertise in economics and global business.
At Rice, Rodriguez helped expand enrollment, add degree programs and increase faculty staffing; he previously held leadership roles at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.
Rodriguez will succeed Susan R. Wente, who has led Wake Forest since 2021, as the university turns to a business-school dean for its next phase.
