Trump spoke for about 53 minutes at the Coast Guard Academy commencement in New London, his first Connecticut visit since winning re-election and his second academy commencement address after 2017.
The speech began around 11:50 a.m. after Air Force One landed shortly before 11 a.m.; earlier coverage said he urged graduates to lead a "national resurgence" and tied the Coast Guard's mission to border security and drug interdiction.
About 200 protesters lined up near the academy with signs calling for release of the Epstein files and an end to the Iran conflict, though the presidential motorcade appeared to take a different route.
A dozen roads in New London were closed and several Groton routes faced disruptions as police tightened security for a visit city officials called rare; the last president to give the keynote there was Joe Biden in 2021.
