Eric Kripke said Jensen Ackles’ last appearance as Soldier Boy came in season 5, episode 7, confirming the character will not appear in The Boys series finale.
Episode 7 quietly wrote him out: Soldier Boy told Homelander he was heading to Bogota and likely would not return, a scene Kripke said was designed as Ackles’ farewell.
Kripke added the team changed a line to mention an 'Impala' instead of a Ford as one last Supernatural nod for Ackles’ final scene.
That closes off fan theories that Soldier Boy would help defeat Homelander in the finale, even though his penultimate-episode exit did not initially read as a definitive sendoff.
Ackles is still set to return as Soldier Boy in prequel series Vought Rising, which is expected in 2027 though no release date has been announced.
