Samsung Launches 6K 165Hz Odyssey G8 OLED as It Adds 5K 180Hz and 4K 240Hz Models

  • Samsung opened orders for three new Odyssey G8 displays, led by the G80HS — which it calls the world’s first 6K OLED gaming monitor — with a 6144x3456 panel and dual modes at 6K/165Hz or 3K/330Hz.
  • That 6K push far exceeds current GPU comfort zones: the report says even Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5090 would struggle to sustain 60-plus fps in modern games at native 6K, making the lower-resolution high-refresh mode a practical fallback.
  • The lineup also adds the G80HF at 5K/180Hz with a 1440p/360Hz mode, and the G80SH in 27-inch and 32-inch versions at 4K/240Hz for more conventional high-end gaming setups.
  • All three use Samsung’s 4th-gen OLED Penta Tandem tech and DisplayPort 2.1, while supporting AMD FreeSync Premium, Nvidia G-Sync compatibility and HDR10+ Gaming; pricing was not disclosed.
