Ukraine Tests Heavy Multicopter Drones to Evacuate Wounded Soldiers as 3 Ground Missions Saved 4

Ukrainian defense forces have begun testing heavy multicopter drones to airlift wounded soldiers, with video showing a large drone carrying a person simulating a casualty.
Russian drone pressure is driving the shift: frontline evacuation vehicles and slower ground robotic platforms are increasingly unable to reach positions safely, especially under FPV attacks.
The concept could reshape battlefield medical support, but it still requires skilled operators, protection for the casualty capsule and defenses for the multicopter itself.
Ground robots remain in use where possible: in the Zaporizhzhia sector, the 210th Separate Assault Regiment said its drones completed 3 evacuation missions in one day, rescuing 4 wounded troops.
Ukraine has already used robotic evacuation beyond combat casualties; on the Lyman front in April, a 3rd Army Corps ground system extracted a 77-year-old woman from a dangerous area.

As drones create a vast 'kill zone,' is the 'Golden Hour' for saving soldiers now impossible?
