Samsung said a joint clinical study in Korea found the Galaxy Watch6 could predict vasovagal syncope up to five minutes before onset with 84.6% accuracy.
The result came from AI analysis of heart rate variability data captured by the watch’s photoplethysmography sensor during induced fainting tests in 132 patients with suspected VVS.
The model posted 90% sensitivity and 64% specificity, suggesting clinically useful early warning performance for a condition that can cause sudden falls, fractures and concussions.
Samsung said it will keep expanding wearable health monitoring and partnerships with medical institutions as it pushes more personalized preventive digital healthcare.
